Viewing a pie chart of a category column

Pie charts provide a compact visual summary of a category column’s distribution. To view a pie chart of a category column:

  1. In the Summary view, select the category column whose pie chart you wish to view
  2. The pie chart will appear in the column summary on the right

You can control whether to show missing values in the pie chart with the Show Missing checkbox below the column summary view.

The pie chart on the left, labeled Observed Sample, represents the actual proportions of each category in the data. The pie chart on the right, labeled Estimated Population, shows the lower bounds of a multinomial confidence interval for each category. The white slices in between the colored slices represent statistical uncertainty.

If a pie chart does not appear, ensure that the column is being treated as categories (Column > Treat Column Data As > Categories).
